Wendy Torrance & The EVA Pod vs The Angel Moroni

The Angel Moroni is a prominent figure in the theology of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. According to Church founder Joseph Smith, Moroni was an ancient prophet who, after being resurrected, appeared to him in 1823 as an angelic messenger. The MessengerThe Golden Plates: Moroni directed Joseph Smith to a buried set of golden plates in upstate New York. Smith translated these plates, which Latter-day Saints believe became the Book of Mormon.Guardian: In the history of the Book of Mormon, Moroni is recognized as the last prophet and military commander of the Nephite civilization. He hid the sacred records in the Hill Cumorah around 421 AD, eventually returning as a heavenly being to pass on the stewardship of the gospel. The Temple StatueSymbolism: Statues of Moroni—typically depicting him as a herald blowing a long trumpet—stand atop most Latter-day Saint temples. The figure is not worshiped; rather, it symbolizes the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of biblical prophecy (such as Revelation 14:6).Design: The first statue was sculpted by Cyrus Dallin and placed on the Salt Lake Temple in 1893. While many traditional temples feature the statue, some newer temples do not include it, which the Church has attributed to architectural design choices, modular construction, or community zoning constraints.
