Humbert Humbert
vs.
J.R.R. Tolkien

J.R.R. Tolkien designed and adopted a personal monogram that creatively superimposes his initials: J, R, R, and T.

He often used this emblem to sign his personal artwork, letters, and illustrations. While Tolkien used the symbol primarily for his private artwork and some early correspondence, it was popularized after his death by publishers who adopted it as his official logo on book editions.
